Hello. I was hoping that the forums could help me with this one.
Does anybody have a list of Mobile Devices that support JSR 75?
I've already asked the customer services of the different companies (Nokia, SE, etc) and they were no help at all. (It seemed that those who answer queries do not know what they were talking about).
It was only recently that I discovered forum.nokia.com and was successful in getting some, if not all, of their JSR 75 compliant devices. I've tried developer.sonyericsson.com and they don't have a filter for JSR 75 compliant phones.
This is for our thesis that would try multimedia encryption on mobile devices. Hopefully, it would be able to stream and use stream ciphers for its encryption/decryption.
Thanks.
//Edit: Does anyone have a list for Sony Ericsson Mobile Devices that support JSR 75?
I don't have the list, but you can get a rough idea of the supporting
phones from the big four from their web site.
But...
if you just want a rough idea (as as an indication of you market),
here is what I can give you:
1. Nokia: Expect 99%. The very bottom devices such as 2610, 2626
I believe doesn't but ALL the rest supports just about any JSR
under the sky.
2. Sony: Expect 99%. Probably 100% on all 2007 phones.
3. Motorola: Close to Nokia and Sony.
4. Samsung: Very low, say 10%. Their JAVA implementations
are not robust; expect few JSRs supported or well supported.
Strange for a country where mobile games florish. I think it has
something to do with the nature of their channels where the
I believe operators (like Japan) dictate the nature of the VM
used, i.e., the VM is a third party thing and the phone
manufacturers has to comply and put in those VM instead; i.e.,
a different third party (but better) VM for their local Korean
market. These third party VMs are Korean, are very advanced
but they are only meant for Korea (ala NTT Doja). Samsung
probably either think that the rest of the world are still in the
bronze age or that their main market is Korea so not to waste
effort on VMs that's gonna get replaced. Can anyone
correct me here?
5. LG: Very low like Samsung. Their JAVA implementation is also
bad. LG is also Korean.
6. PDAs with Win Mobile: Low at best, at least on WM5 devices.
VM too varied. Can someone update me here?
